Rote Not Ritual

Rote Not Ritual was a two-hour performance at Primetime, Brooklyn (NY) on January 25th, 2013. Wall size: 9′H x 6′ W x 3′ D. A team of six performers presented movement choreography from within the pre-engineered gallery wall. Varying platforms were constructed so that the performers body parts could be configured at different heights and planes, enhancing the effect of distortion.

This piece was inspired by the poem Sisyphus’s Acceptance by Stephen Dunn.

In the Spring of 2013 I was a Visiting Guest Lecturer and Artist-in-Residence at VCUQatar at Fanoon: Center for Printmedia Research in Doha, Qatar. As a printmaking fellow I experimented with paper making and created diagrammatic studies derived from sketches for Rote Not Ritual.
